Chimbota Urges Farmers to Adopt Microbial Fertilizer
The Chimbota Community Development Organization is calling on local farmers to embrace Microbial fertilizer, a safe, affordable, and eco-friendly solution designed to boost crop yields while protecting the environment.
The initiative aims to strengthen food security and promote sustainable farming in rural communities.
Director Kevin Troughton said the training, supported by Space Butterfly, equips farmers with practical skills to produce the fertilizer using maize husks, cow dung, sugar, and clean water.
“This is a cost-effective alternative to chemical fertilizers, especially for smallholder farmers in areas like Nkhatabay,” he explained.
On 20 February, a live demonstration at Chimbota Primary School drew farmers from S.T.A Mndola, who learned how to safely produce and apply the fertilizer.
Village Head Kasyata praised the initiative, noting that it will help farmers improve crop yields, reduce production costs, and strengthen community resilience.
Troughton added that more training sessions are planned across the district, urging all farmers to adopt Microbial fertilizer and take advantage of this sustainable farming technology.
