New Specialized Levo Motor Update Is Here
When the Specialized Levo 4 launched, it marked a leap forward in eMTB development. More powerful, more organic-feeling e-bike motors became the standard, pushing many brands to step it up. Shortly after the announcement of the Levo for and Specialized 3.1 Motor, we saw many brands scramble to update their powertrains. Today, Specialized is pushing out a huge update to all Levo 4s with the 3.1 Motor, and everyone can access it.
I've been riding this new motor tune for a couple of weeks, thanks to early access, and the updates are noticeable, however subtle they might look on paper. The Specialized 3.1 Motor was already incredibly (super) natural-feeling, and this new update has made it even better.
This update makes the motor feel more refined and organic, yet more supportive when it matters - I've cleared some tech climbs that honestly seemed impossible - and makes the motor fade into the background of riding when you get close to the governed speed limit. If you already love the Levo 4 and 3.1 motor, this is an impressive update, and absurdly simple to take advantage of through the Specialized App.

Specialized is shifting what you, the rider, can expect from the Levo 4 eMTB. Today, the brand announces the launch of Over-the-Air updates for the Levo 4, ensuring that it keeps getting better over time. With this Over-the-Air release, the 3.1 Motor at the heart of Levo 4 delivers even more SuperNatural category-defining performance; 18% or 22% more peak power, depending on model. This milestone begins a new era for Levo riders, with Over-the-Air updates delivered via the Specialized app, ensuring bikes run the most advanced software ever created.
“With Over-the-Air updates, every Turbo bike becomes a living, evolving machine that gets better over time,” said Marco Sonderegger, Leader of Turbo Technology. “With a simple software update done from theconvenience of their home, riders’ bikes get more powerful, more refined, and more personalized.”
