Iran Executes Five Prisoners, Including Afghan National
Iran Human Rights reported that five prisoners were executed at Chezel Hesar prison in Karaj, including one Afghan citizen.
The Afghan national was identified as Ahmad Farhad Haidari, originally from Herat province, who had been sentenced to death in a murder case under Iran’s qisas law.
Another rights group, Hengaw, previously reported that at least 85 Afghan citizens were executed in Iran during 2025.
Legal experts say Afghan migrants in Iran often face vulnerabilities due to residency issues, economic hardship, and limited access to independent legal defense.
Human rights organizations frequently criticize the use of capital punishment in Iran, particularly in cases involving foreign nationals and migrant communities.
The situation of Afghan migrants in Iran, especially in judicial cases, has remained a major concern for rights activists who call for fair legal treatment and transparency.
The latest executions are likely to renew international debate over Iran’s use of the death penalty and the treatment of Afghan migrants within the country’s legal system.
