Paul McCartney Chose To Release the First Beatles Biopic Stills Through Postcards for This Specific Reason
If you've been on the internet today, you will likely have seen the first official stills for the four Beatles biopics — one each for John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Currently, the project is titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, and will be hitting theatres in 2028.
The official images show four images of each Beatle, scattered across the timeline of the iconic band's time together between 1960 and 1970. Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan are shown in full hair, makeup, and costume for John, Paul, George, and Ringo, respectively.
The stills had an unorthodox way of making their way onto the internet and the movie's official promotion process. They were found in the form of postcards at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), a performing arts higher education institution co-founded by Mark Featherstone-Witty and McCartney, in the latter's home city.
Soon, Beatles fans found the postcards scattered all across the globe, namely Beatles-centric locations like New York City, Tokyo, Hamburg, and of course, Liverpool.

"Before anything else, this moment was made for the fans, in the way Beatles stories have always travelled: hand to hand, city to city, shared between friends, kept in drawers and stuck on bedroom walls," The Beatles posted in a statement about the upcoming films on their official website, titled Beatlemania Is in Full Swing.
"So when it came to sharing a first look at the actors stepping into these roles for SAM MENDES’ THE BEATLES — A FOUR-FILM CINEMATIC EVENT, in partnership with Sony Pictures and Neal Street Productions —Harris Dickinson as John, Paul Mescal as Paul, Joseph Quinn as George and Barry Keoghan as Ringo — we wanted it to feel like something you could discover."
"That’s why it began with postcards," the statement continued. "Something physical. Something you can hold on to. A small nod to the earliest days, when news travelled by paper, signatures were treasured, and the story lived in photographs, notes, and memorabilia passed around between fans and friends."
How To Find a Beatles Biopic Postcard Near You
There are over 4,000 postcards scattered around the globe in total, according to the post — 200 of which have been signed by the cast, described as "our new fab four."
Many have been found in record shops that stock Beatles albums in the chosen cities. Others, as shown in the photos in the post, have been spotted at Beatles-themed landmarks, such as Penny Lane, 251 Menlove Avenue (the home John Lennon grew up in), The Cavern Club, and The Beatles statues in Liverpool.
