Fabrizio Romano reveals what he knows about Tottenham talks for Andy Robertson
Fabrizio Romano has revealed whether Arne Slot’s decision to play Andy Robertson against Bournemouth was significant amidst Tottenham’s talks to secure the left-back.
Amidst speculation linking Robertson with a move to Spurs, all eyes were on the Liverpool team sheet to see if the Scot made the trip down to the Vitality Stadium.
Not only was the 31-year-old named in the matchday squad, but he also got 45 minutes of football under his belt after replacing Milos Kirkez at half-time as the Reds fell to a 3-2 loss to the Cherries.
There has now been an update on whether Arne Slot’s decision to play the full-back is indicative of Liverpool’s transfer stance on the player.
Talks continue between Tottenham and Liverpool over Andy Robertson
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Spurs made an offer for the Scotland international on Friday, which is still on the table.
The discussions between the two clubs are now continuing after Robertson conveyed his openness to making the switch to N17.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Tottenham keep working this week and in the next few days to close a deal for Andy Robertson. They presented an official bid to Liverpool already on Friday. The bid is on the table. The bid is being negotiated between Liverpool and Tottenham.
“The player is open to making the switch. Robertson playing against Bournemouth doesn’t mean anything. Now, it’s on the clubs to decide what to do. The player is open and ready. Tottenham and Liverpool are in contact to try and find a financial agreement for Andy Robertson.”
Spurs will have to hand a lucrative contract to Robertson
Given that the left-back only has six months left on his deal at Anfield, it has been claimed that Tottenham can land Robertson for a cut-price fee.
However, Spurs are expected to hand the Liverpool star a lucrative salary, and he could be one of the highest-paid players at the North London club.
Tottenham fans remain divided over whether Robertson would be a good addition, but it appears that the Lilywhites are pressing forward with a move.
