Seven Dials Cast: Where You've Seen The Stars Of The Agatha Christie Mystery Before
Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials is the new binge-watch whodunnit from Netflix that we’re obsessed with.
Based on a story by the Queen Of Crime herself, Agatha Christie, the show follows a young, plucky aristocrat, “Bundle”, who tries to crack the case when a guest is murdered in her house.
The British cosy mystery drama from Chris Chibnall – best known for creating Broadchurch – is full of famous British faces, including some well-established names and others that are still on the come-up.
From period drama favourites and household names to upcoming stars, here’s where you may have seen the cast of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials before…
Mia McKenna-Bruce
Mia McKenna-Bruce takes on the role of “Bundle”, an aristocrat-turned-detective, in Seven Dials.
Before being cast in the Netflix whodunnit, Mia made a big impact on screen with her role in 2023’s How To Have Sex, which led to her winning Best Breakthrough Performer of the Year at the 2023 London Film Critics Circle Awards and a Bafta Rising Star Award.
Her other film work includes the 2022 adaptation of Persuasion, starring Dakota Johnson, and the 2023 British drama Kindling.
She previously appeared as Penny Branning in five episodes of EastEnders in 2008, Tee Taylor in Tracey Beaker Returns (and its spin-off The Dumping Ground) and Mia in the TV adaptation of Vampire Academy.
You can next see Mia playing Ringo Starr’s wife, Maureen Starkey, in the upcoming Beatles biopic alongside Barry Keoghan as the famous drummer.
Helena Bonham Carter
Helena Bonham Carter plays Lady Caterham in Seven Dials, which is the latest in a long line of period drama roles she’s appeared in over her four-decade career.
In the mid-1980s, Helena rose to prominence playing Lucy Honeychurch in A Room With A View and the titular role in Lady Jane.
Since her on-screen debut, she has enjoyed a prolific career on screen, and is well-known for her collaborations with ex-partner Tim Burton, including Big Fish, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and Alice In Wonderland, as well as her work as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies.
Her other major roles include playing Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech, which earned her an Oscar nomination, and her Emmy-nominated turn as Princess Margaret in seasons three and four of Netflix’s The Crown.
Martin Freeman
Martin Freeman plays Superintendent Battle in the Agatha Christie adaptation, and the actor is no stranger to the whodunnit genre, notably playing the Watson to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock in the BBC drama.
Before he was solving crimes, he found fame on British TV as Tim in Ricky Gervais’ The Office.
His other on-screen credits include Love Actually, all three films in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy, playing Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit films, portraying Everett K. Ross in the MCU and the controversial Miller’s Girl alongside Jenna Ortega.
In addition to his newfound Hollywood success, Martin has also continued to act on television, most notably starring in the acclaimed BBC drama The Responder and the dark comedy Breeders.
Corey Mylchreest
Corey plays Gerry Wade in Seven Dials, but viewers will best know him for his breakthrough role as George III in the Bridgerton prequel, Queen Charlotte.
He has been a regular on Netflix in the years since, with roles in the drama Hostage, alongside Suranne Jones, and in the romantic film My Oxford Year.
He also appeared in one episode of the BBC sitcom Daddy Issues, starring Aimee Lou Wood.
Nabhaan Rizwan
Regular Netflix viewers will have already seen Nabhaan Rizwan in action in 2024’s Kaos, which was sadly cancelled by the streamer after one season.
His other TV credits include Informer, The Accident, the first series of Industry, Station Eleven and Dope Girls, where he played Silas Huxley.
Nabhaan has also shared the screen with his brother Mawaan Rizwan in Juice, and recently appeared in BBC comedy Film Club, which was written and starred Aimee Lou Wood.
Although his TV work currently outweighs his film credits, Nabhaan has appeared in the war drama 1917, played Rory in The Last Letter from Your Lover and had a starring role in the British indie In Camera.
Edward Bluemel
You’ll likely recognise Edward Bluemel, who plays Jimmy in Seven Dials, for his role as Marcus Whitmore in The Discovery Of Witches, but he also starred as MI6 agent Hugo in Killing Eve and Sean in Sex Education.
His latest roles were in 2024’s much-missed My Lady Jane and the BBC comedy We Might Regret This.
Theatre fans may have seen him perform opposite Ncuti Gatwa in the West End’s Born With Teeth, where he played William Shakespeare alongside Ncuti’s Christopher Marlowe.
Ella-Rae Smith
Ella-Rae Smith appears as Loraine in Seven Dials, but sci-fi fans may remember her from Foundations, in which she played Queen Sareth.
No stranger to Netflix viewers, she also played Daisy in the Harlan Coben adaptation The Stranger, while her other TV credits include playing the lead role in Into The Badlands and appearing in the BBC’s Clique.
On the big screen, Ella-Rae appeared in Liam Neeson thriller The Commuter, Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw and last year’s horror, Your Host.
Alexander Macqueen
Alexander Macqueen, who appears in Seven Dials as George Lomax, is a well-known face to British comedy fans thanks to roles including Neil’s dad, Kevin, in The Inbetweeners, Howard, the anti-speed bump campaigner neighbour in Outnumbered and boring boyfriend David in the Julia Davis comedy Sally4Ever.
More recently, he starred alongside Idris Elba in the drama Hijack and in Channel 5′s The Feud with Jill Halfpenny.
His film credits range across genres from Disney’s live-action Cinderella remake to the Horrible Histories film Rotten Romans and the second Downton Abbey movie.
Iain Glen
Iain Glen is probably best recognised for playing Jorah Mormont in Game Of Thrones, although you may also know him for playing Dr Alexander Isaacs in three films in the Resident Evil franchise.
His other recent TV credits include The Rig on Prime and Apple TV+ sci-fi Silo. He also played Vaughn Edwards in Spooks, Paul in Prisoner’s Wives, and Sir Richard Carlisle in Downton Abbey.
Nyasha Hatendi
Nyasha Hatendi plays the mysterious Dr Cyril Matip in Seven Dials, but you may recognise him for playing Smithers in the recent Alex Rider TV show on Prime.
He previously played a lead role in Casual, a comedy about a recently-divorced single mother, in addition to TV appearances include Above Suspicion, Strike Back and Black Earth Rising.
As a voice actor, Nyasha has played characters in the video games Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Dorothy Atkinson
Dorothy is a well-known face to fans of stage and screen in the UK.
You may have seen her play auxiliary nurse Jane in season two of Call The Midwife, a snobby sister-in-law, Pauline, in Mum alongside Lesley Manville and in her role as Florence in Harlots. She also recently appeared in Pennyworth, the BBC drama The Gold and in Ludwig, alongside David Mitchell.
She is often associated with the plays of writer Alan Ayckbourn and known for her collaborations with Mike Leigh, which have included Topsy-Turvy, All Or Nothing, and Mr. Turner.
You may also recognise Dorothy for playing Barry Keoghan’s on-screen mum in Saltburn.
Mark Lewis Jones
Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones appears in Seven Dials as Sir Oswald Coote, but this is far from his most recognisable role.
Starting his career in the 1980s, Mark has been prolific on the big and small screens.
Some of Mark’s recent major roles include playing Tom Christie in seasons six and seven of Outlander, Donny’s father, Gerald, in Baby Reindeer and Andrew in the Netflix sci-fi show Bodies.
His other recent credits also include Martin Clunes’ ITV drama Out There, Charles in The Reckoning, in which Steve Coogan played Jimmy Savile, and Glynn in the Michael Sheen-penned The Way.
