Tottenham plot move for £52m midfielder who was outplayed by Xavi Simons recently
Tottenham Hotspur want to raid Borussia Dortmund for a player who featured against them in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Spurs have lost two of their midfielders to long-term injuries over recent weeks, joining the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski on the sidelines.
Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to be out for several months, and it has now been confirmed that Lucas Bergvall has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
This may force the North London club to add to their squad before the end of this month, and one Borussia Dortmund man has reportedly caught their eye.
Tottenham plotting move for Felix Nmecha
According to a report in Bild, Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha is now on Tottenham’s radar.
Nmecha has been one of the standout midfielders in the Bundesliga this term, and the Spurs decision makers saw the 25-year-old first-hand as he started and played 67 minutes during the Lilywhites’ 2-0 win on Tuesday.
It is revealed that Tottenham ‘are planning a transfer’ for the German international, but they may face competition from Manchester United for the player.
However, the outlet claims that Nmecha is unlikely to come cheap, with Dortmund expected to demand €60m (£52.2m) for his services.
What Nmecha has said about the Premier League
Interestingly, Bild also relayed the midfielder’s recent interview, which he gave just ahead of Dortmund’s clash against Tottenham.
Nmecha was asked directly about the speculation over his future and refused to rule out a move to English football.
When asked if he sees himself playing in the Premier League, the Dortmund star said: “Whether I want to play in the Premier League or not, I’m not going to say right now. I think for me it’s simply important that we win this game [against Tottenham] and that I hopefully enjoy this special day.”
