Towards the end of the podcast episode, Jesse asked Eric what he missed most about Modern Family, and said, “just chatting,” before bringing up a fun moment.
“[Casting director] Jeff Greenberg walking into the glass that day,” Eric recalled. “It’s the greatest moment ever. No, we taped off his face mark. Remember? His face mark lived that whole season, and he just walked right towards us.”
“Normally on set the craft service area table, a table in the corner. And because we were a hit, quote unquote, they built like this tiny little glass box in the middle of the stage. It was like a little kitchen,” Jesse said, continuing to explain the area. “It was a glass box, with doors and windows. And we were inside having breakfast, and Jeff Greenberg, our brilliant casting director, came strutting across the way, walking toward us and face planted into the glass.”
Eric chimed in, “And we watched it coming from a mile away and didn’t, couldn’t do anything about it… And then when he walked away, we went and his face print was still on the glass. So we blue taped his face print and it just lived in memorium for like months.”
They also recalled going out for the first time together, for lunch on Valentine’s day.
“The pairing worked. And then I always tell people, you know, that we like went out to like get to know one another and we realized halfway through, it was Valentine’s Day,” Jesse shared. “We were both single at the time, so none. Neither one of us had Valentine’s Day on our minds.”
“And neither, neither of us knew. Like we walk into [Intelligentsia Coffee] in Silver Lake and we’re like, well, there’s a lot of couples in here,” Eric added. “It’s Valentine’s Day. That’s how lonely we each were. Yeah. We didn’t know that other lovers were there. And we literally broke bread for the first time on Valentine’s Day.”
Jesse said, “That’s right. That’s like literally how we, we used, we started like getting to know one another.”
Also on the pod, the guys talked about Eric‘s low-key wedding that Jesse didn’t get invited to, how his wife changed him, playing the clown Fizbo on the show, and much more. See the full video, the podcast’s first YouTube episode, right here!
