I love makeup to death, but for me, not every day requires the effort it takes to do a full face – or even half a face.
With that being said, while I’m by no means scared to show the world my naked face, I like having a simple, low-effort option on days when I want to put just a teeny, tiny bit of effort into my appearance. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, after all.
To that end, ever since I tried Erborian’s CC Red Correct Cream, I just haven’t been able to quit her – and with literally hundreds of five-star reviews under its belt, it’s clear I’m not the only one.
Considering how often I wear it (and only it), at £19 for 15ml, I’d say it’s well worth the money.
Yes, it’s green, but worry not – as most of you beauty-lovers will know, green sits opposite red on the colour wheel, so it’s great for neutralising unwanted red patches.
It’s a thick formula that doesn’t take much to cover a whole face, but it blends and builds really well into a light-to-medium coverage look.
My oily skin loves it, which is a small miracle given I’m used to layering primer, powder, and different setting sprays to give my makeup its best chance of lasting all day and/or night.
But with nothing except some moisturiser and this CC cream on my skin, it can survive even a sweaty gym class.
It’s even got SPF, so I don’t have to worry about protecting my skin from the sun’s rays when I’m popping to the shops or going down the pub.
It takes around a minute to apply, and it rubs in great using only my fingers – no extra tools necessary!
My one caveat is that I personally wouldn’t use this as a one-step skin-perfecting product on occasions when I want to do a full face of makeup.
This is because, for all its pros, it only builds well up to a point – since it comes out of the tube green, too many layers of it naturally give my skin a greenish hue, which isn’t a look that I personally am going for.
It also neutralises the redness in my face so well that any ‘natural’ colour or glow on my skin gets flattened out.
So, if I’m going anywhere where I feel the need to be a tad less lazy, I’ll usually add a healthy helping of blush and some eyeshadow to even things out.
I’m careful where I apply it, usually focusing most of the product on any blemishes and on my nose, because that’s where I tend to get very pink – especially in cold weather.
But with that in mind, I utterly adore this low-effort CC cream, and it isn’t going to stop being a staple in my makeup bag any time soon.
