Banished Traitors Star Says Fans 'Risked His Safety' With 'Invasive' Online Sleuthing
Throughout his recent stint on The Traitors, sales exec and personal trainer Ross Garshong found himself at the centre of no end of speculation about the true nature of his relationship with fellow contestant Ellie Buckley.
As the rumours mounted that Ross and Ellie knew one another outside the castle, some more zealous viewers took it upon themselves to do some digging on social media, and unearthed a number of photos of the two together.
With Ross now having been banished (and Ellie confirming that the two are, indeed, a couple after his exit in Wednesday night’s episode), he has admitted to Metro that he thinks some fans’ efforts to work out the truth crossed a line.
“People have been disgustingly invasive,” he lamented. “I don’t mind people [talking about] stuff in the past, like, we’ve been to this leisure centre or this thing, but they were literally quoting the gym we go to which is quite close to us. I’m like, that’s too much.”
Ross continued: “Obviously I can understand people wanting to know stuff out of curiosity, but it’s like doxxing someone. Don’t risk my safety. That’s something I had a bit of a thing with.”
“We already know people are mad out there, so with the information stuff, it felt invasive,” he concluded, pointing out that he and the rest of the cast already “get really weird messages as it is” and criticising certain fans’ behaviour as “dangerous and a bit not human”.
After Ross’ banishment, Ellie quietly vowed to “avenge his death”, but has so far not told anyone else in the cast about the real nature of their relationship.
The Traitors continues on Friday 9 January at 8pm on BBC One, with the latest instalment dealing with the aftermath of the epic confrontation between two of the resident “Traitors”, in what some have described as the “most chaotic episode” in the Bafta-winning reality show’s history.
