Popular Comedian Cancels Tour Dates After Medical Emergency
Comedian Colin Mochrie, best known for his role on the television series "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", recently underwent surgery after experiencing a "medical situation."
Mochrie, 68, had been part of the HYPROV--hypnosis and improv--tour alongside hypnotist Asad Mecci. Two days ago, the tour's official Instagram account revealed Mochrie's situation and announced that upcoming performances would be canceled.
Mochrie diagnosed with eye issue
It's an eye problem, specifically a detached retina, that led Mochrie to need emergency surgery
“We regret to inform you that our upcoming shows will be postponed due to a medical situation involving Colin Mochrie,” the HYPROV statement said. "Colin has been diagnosed with a detached retina and will be undergoing emergency eye surgery today. His medical team is optimistic about his full recovery, but he needs time to rest and heal.”
"Colin is incredibly grateful for your support and well wishes,” the statement added. “He forward to being back on stage and sharing many more laughs with all of you in the near future. Thank you for understanding.”
Tour dates called off, may be 'rescheduled'
Mochrie and Mecci were supposed to perform in Niagara Falls over the weekend, with other shows scheduled for Black River Falls, Wisc. (Feb. 14), Port Angeles and Kirkland, Wash. (March 12-13) and Salem, Ore. (March 14).
A two-week tour through Australia was also scheduled for April. Now, those shows have been canceled, though they may be rescheduled, per the HYPROV statement.
"We understand this news is disappointing for those who were looking forward to the performances, and we truly appreciate your understanding," the statement said. "We are currently working on rescheduling the shows, and all tickets will be honored for the new dates. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled performances, we will provide information on how to request a refund."
