Supercomputer reveals how likely Tottenham are to beat Sunderland in the Premier League
Opta’s Supercomputer has now predicted Tottenham’s chances of getting all three points against Sunderland on Sunday.
There continues to be a lot of discontent among the Tottenham fan base, mainly due to the team’s uninspiring style of play.
The travelling Spurs fans at the Gtech Community Stadium chanted ‘boring boring Tottenham’, and even jeered Thomas Frank and the players after the final whistle.
However, the Dane will feel that the team is moving in the right direction as they kept two clean sheets in two London derbies away from home and secured four points.
Tottenham are deemed favourites to beat Sunderland
There is now a huge deal riding on Spurs’ clash at home against Sunderland. Should the Lilywhites play well and win comfortably, the last two results will be seen positively.
However, if Sunderland hold Spurs to a draw or consign the North Londoners to another defeat at home, one shudders to think what the reaction of the home fans will be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Opta’s Supercomputer believes that Frank’s men are favourites to get three points on Sunday, giving them a 56.1 per cent chance of beating the Black Cats.
A Sunderland win and a draw have been deemed almost equally probable, with 21.2 per cent chance of the former and 22.7 per cent of the points being shared.
Spurs need to fix their home form in 2026
Tottenham had an unbelievably shocking record at home in 2025, with the club breaking some unenviable records.
That should be the priority for Frank to fix in the New Year, as it is going to be difficult for Spurs to get into the top six if they do not win matches at home.
Frank has spoken about needing to make the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a fortress, but the venue is a long way away from being that at the moment.
