Afghan Woman and Three Children Found Dead in Karachi, Pakistan Home
An Afghan woman and her three children were found dead in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area, prompting a police investigation into the suspected family tragedy.
Pakistani authorities reported the discovery of the bodies of an Afghan woman and her three children in Karachi, in what appears to be a tragic family incident.
According to Dawn, the bodies were found on Sunday, December 28,, inside their home in the Sohrab Goth area of the city.
Police identified the woman as Fatima Najib. Preliminary investigations suggest she may have killed her three-year-old daughter, two-year-old son, and 10-year-old stepdaughter before taking her own life, citing possible mental health and family issues.
Her husband, Najibullah, a resident of Punjab, Pakistan, told authorities that he discovered the bodies after returning home from work, describing the scene as “horrifying and unimaginable.”
Officials noted that Fatima was Najibullah’s second wife, and the 10-year-old child was from his first marriage, raising further questions about family dynamics and domestic stressors.
Cases of domestic violence and familial disputes in South Asia have occasionally escalated to tragic outcomes, highlighting the need for mental health support and early intervention.
Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, has witnessed similar high-profile domestic incidents in recent years, prompting law enforcement to prioritize quick investigative measures and public safety alerts.
The Punjab police have ordered an immediate investigation into the deaths, emphasizing that the exact cause will be determined only after autopsy results are released.
Authorities are also looking into the husband’s testimony and broader household circumstances to understand the events leading to the family’s deaths, as part of a comprehensive criminal and social inquiry.
