James Cameron Reveals If He Would Unveil 'Avatar' Plot Details If 4 & 5 End Up Not Getting Made
James Cameron is opening up about the possibility of the next two Avatar movies not getting made.
The 71-year-old filmmaker has already shot scenes for at least Avatar 4, but recently, he’s made comments about still not being sure the franchise will officially continue – even with a release date already locked in.
Recently, James revealed if he would publicly share the plot of the two movies if they end up not being released.

“I don’t know if the saga goes beyond this point. I hope it does,” he told EW earlier this month. “But, you know, we prove that business case every time we go out.”
IF they don’t get made, he’s got a backup plan so fans won’t be left hanging on what happens – the scripts are fully written, after all.
“Here’s what it is,” James said. “If we don’t get to make 4 and 5, for whatever reason, I’ll hold a press conference and I’ll tell you what we were gonna do. How’s that?”
He also teased that he would like to turn the movies into books, which he would write himself.
“There’s so much culture and backstory and lateral detail in these characters that’s been worked out. I’d love to do something that’s at that level of granular detail,” James says, though he notes, “There’s no business model for it anymore. People aren’t reading.”
“But anyway, it might be good to have the canonical record of what it was all supposed to be,” he concludes.
The recently released third movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has made nearly half a billion dollars at the global box office, so far.
One of the stars of the movie recently opened up about a controversial scene.
