Allegri reveals new Pulisic doubt: ‘Won’t take him if he’s going to infect us’
Massimiliano Allegri has revealed that Christian Pulisic is a doubt for Milan’s upcoming Serie A match away against Torino on Monday evening, as he is currently down with a fever: ‘We won’t take him if he’s going to infect everyone’.
Pulisic at risk of missing Torino vs. Milan through illness
Milan will have an opportunity to put themselves back on top of the Serie A table with a victory away against Torino on Monday evening, kicking off at 19.45 GMT.
The Rossoneri head coach provided an injury update ahead of the Torino clash during his pre-match press conference on Sunday. He confirmed that he will still be without Santiago Gimenez and Youssouf Fofana, and that Pulisic is at risk of missing out through illness.
The USMNT star was ruled out of his side’s 1-0 win over Lazio last weekend with a muscular issue, but was fit enough to come off the bench against the Biancoelesti in the Coppa Italia on Thursday night. There is a chance that he is forced to sit out of another league fixture this weekend, though.
“We hope to have Gimenez back as soon as possible, he’s important and we need him numerically and tactically,” Allegri told the media on Sunday.
“Pulisic had a fever last night, we’ll see tomorrow whether he’s available or not,” he continued. “We won’t take him with us if he’s going to infect everyone. Athekame is working on his recovery, we hope to have Fofana for Sassuolo. This is a very important week.”
Pulisic and Rafael Leao are Milan’s leading goalscorers this season with five goals each in Serie A. They have only managed to start alongside each other once so far this season, though: During the 1-0 victory over Inter in the Derby della Madonnina at the end of Novemver.
