Finnish schools hire more teachers under new learning support rules
Finnish schools have started hiring more teachers as part of a nationwide education reform that changes how learning support is provided in classrooms. The new law came into force this month and affects early childhood education, basic education, and upper secondary schools.
The reform removes the three-tier system of general, intensified, and special support. Under the new model, schools are expected to provide early and more consistent support to pupils directly within their regular class groups.
