WATCH: Karun Nair falls for a duck on Test comeback after 8 years against England
India are facing England in the opening Test of the five-match series at Headingley in Leeds. With the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, India’s batting lineup has a fresh look. Among the new faces is Karun Nair, making his comeback to the playing XI after eight years.
He entered the match in good form, particularly after a double century in the first unofficial Test between India A and England Lions. However, his long-awaited comeback fell well short of expectations as he got out on a duck.
Karun Nair came in to bat at No. 6 following Shubman Gill’s dismissal. However, Nair’s innings was short-lived as he got out for a four-ball duck. He tried to hit the ball towards the covers but was caught by Ollie Pope with one hand.
Earlier on Day 1 of the first Test against England, debutant Sai Sudharsan was also dismissed for a four-ball duck after coming in to bat at number 3.
