Florida Man Allegedly Grossly Destroyed $10,000 Worth of Groceries
A 70-year-old Florida man is accused of ruining over $10,000 of groceries by urinating on them.
Patrick Francis Mitchell was caught relieving himself on two pallets of canned meats--188 cans of Vienna sausage and 345 cans of Spam--at a Sam’s Club in Lady Lake, Florida near Orlando, according to reports. The alleged incident occurred on May 30.
According to a Lake County court affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Mitchell was arrested on June 4 and charged with criminal mischief resulting in over $1,000 in damages and disorderly conduct.
A female customer at the Sam's Club snapped photos of Mitchell during the act, and Sam's Club CCTV apparently showed that the local retiree “walked up to two pallets, [faced] the shelf, placed both hands in front of him below the belt line, and stood there for several seconds," exhibiting "behavior consistent with urination."
After shockingly handling his business, Mitchell reportedly lingered around the snack area and later sat on patio furniture for “approximately 10 minutes” before paying for his items and leaving the store.
In total, the items Mitchell urinated on were worth $10,584.84, according to the affidavit.
Mitchell, who lives in the Village of Piedmont with his wife, pleaded guilty to both charges at a court appearance on June 10.
He is due back in court on June 30, per Lake County court records.
