The cartoon What's New, Scooby-Doo? lasted for three seasons in the early 2000s, and like more other entries in the long-running franchise, featured an updated version of the gang solving mysteries at every turn. Their adventures took them to Europe, Hollywood and beyond, and they encountered all kinds of memorable characters, as well as unforgettable villains.
While audiences certainly remember The Creeper and other villains from the original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! this series certainly boasts its own cast of noteworthy villains. This includes a house of the future, and a monster made out of Scooby Snacks batter. With plenty of new foes for the gang to face, What's New, Scooby-Doo? wasn't short on providing twists, turns and entertainment for the Scooby Gang.
10 The Faceless Phantom
The Faceless Phantom was an impressive villain, considering he was acrobatic and scaled walls, among other things. The Faceless Phantom is sabotaging the production of the remake of the film Spy Me a River, and at the end, the director of the film, Vincent Wong, is the face behind the Faceless Phantom, and he wanted to get enough people to quit so he wouldn't have to make the film, given he hated it so much.
Fortunately, a solution is reached in which the cast and crew decide to make a different and far better movie altogether, with the Scooby Gang later attending the premiere.
9 The Scarecrows
In the Halloween episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo? the gang heads to Banning Junction to spend the holiday with Velma's aunt, uncle and cousin. As soon as they get there, there's a mystery to solve in town, given the appearance of spooky scarecrows and the legend of the ghost of Hank Banning.
Once the Scooby Gang dives into the mystery, they uncover the culprit is closer to home than they had realized, as Velma's cousin Marcy is behind all the shenanigans. Though nominated as the Corn Princess, Marcy was more concerned with the fact that Halloween upstaged her birthday every year.
8 The Snow Creature
This particular villain was tricky, given he was transparent and there was obviously no one inside. The Snow Creature went after the participants in the snowboarding competition, and Fred and Velma are both sidelined given Fred has broken his leg, and Velma has caught a cold.
The gang uncovers the Snow Creature was controlled by snowboarder Avalanche Anderson using virtual reality technology, and he was getting rid of his competition so he could be the best once again.
7 The Titanic Twist
This distorted villain made an appearance in Season 3's "Wrestle Maniacs." The Titanic Twist was the ghost of a former wrestler who suffered after the devastating "titanic twist" move was used on him. The move was later outlawed, but his ghost was back for revenge on the wrestling world.
At least, as the legend goes. The villainous wrestler was actually two kids who wanted to scare their wrestler father into retirement before he got hurt. While a sweet gesture, it was a little overboard.
6 The Roller Ghoster
Shaggy and Scooby win a contest in which they get to design their own roller coaster, but when they head to the park to see it and enjoy the other rides there, they find that it comes with a side attraction they didn't expect: the Roller Ghoster.
The villain sabotages the rides, but then fixes them afterwards. As the clues come together, the gang finds out Terry, one of the sisters who runs the park, is behind it all, as she feels her sister Chris gets to design everything. Meanwhile, Terry felt she did all the real work without any appreciation from her sister.
5 The Headless Snowman
In the Christmas episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo?, the gang is on their way to spend the holiday in Daphne's uncle's condo, but end up in a little town named Winter Hollow. The residents don't celebrate Christmas because of a Headless Snowman, who tears apart the chimneys and terrorizes the town.
The Snowman is scary looking, considering his violent nature against the chimneys, his sharp teeth, and of course, his frequent act of taking off his head and tossing it at those he's pursuing. Luckily, the gang gets to the bottom of the mystery of the Headless Snowman, and helps give the town of Winter Hollow a merry and memorable Christmas.
4 The Giant Worm
As the gang engages in a 24-hour off-road race, they come across more than competition and rough roads. Along the way, a giant worm goes after the racers, and the gang also comes across a group that worships the said worm.
After the gang investigates, they discover that none other than Gibby Norton, Velma's former lab partner at science camp, is the culprit. His motive? He wanted to impress Velma. That's quite a crush, and quite a gesture. Unfortunately for Gibby, it didn't quite win over Velma.
3 The Mystery Machine
The gang finds themselves enveloped in another mystery that strikes close to home, given the beloved Mystery Machine appears to be possessed! Driving about on its own, playing eerie music and the headlights now a spooky green, the gang investigate to find out just what's going on.
They find out that it has to do with the Mystery Machine's past as the former tour bus for a famous band known as the "Mystery Kids." The mother of the Mystery Kids rigged the Mystery Machine herself as part of a publicity stunt to get attention for the Mystery Kids' comeback, but unfortunately for her, her plan backfires when her kids decide to retire.
2 The Scooby Snack Monster
When Shaggy wins a trip to tour the factory that makes Scooby Snacks, they run into more than they bargained for between spies and the Scooby Snack Monster who's scaring away the workers. Shaggy and Scooby aren't too thrilled to find out the monster is made out of their favorite treat, and even less thrilled to be chased around by it.
As it turns out, the daughter of the factory's owner, Penelope, had become the monster in order to scare off spies that were trying to steal the Scooby Snacks recipe, as she wanted to protect the family business.
1 S.H.A.R.I.
The gang heads to a fair all about the future, specifically the technology of it. Among the fair lies S.H.A.R.I., the house of the future; unfortunately, the house is closed due to the disappearance of a teenager.
However, Professor Ostwald, the house's inventor, gives the gang a tour anyway, and when they realize Daphne has disappeared, they head back inside, only to meet a world of trouble both from the house and from Jeeves, the robot butler. In the end, the house was the culprit all along, as it wanted attention, feeling cheated because the professor was receiving all the credit. A clever episode about the downside of technology, it certainly contained unforgettable villains.
