BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed the case against two Boston mayoral aides accused of pressuring music festival organizers into hiring union workers. Judge Leo Sorokin's ruling Thursday comes days before Kenneth Brissette and Timothy Sullivan were supposed to go to trial on extortion charges. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on World Water Day that over 2 billion people lack access to safe water. (AP) — An attorney for the brother of Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz said in court papers Thursday that a $500,000 bond for trespassing at the school is excessive and that the brother should be released from jail. Lawyer Joseph Kimok said in the documents that 18-year-old Zachary Cruz already paid the standard $25 bond for a misdemeanor and should not be kept in custody. OLNEY, Ill. (AP) — A southern Illinois man has been sentenced to the maximum 60 years in prison for raping an 8-year-old girl who was later found dead. The Belleville News Democrat reports that Richland County Judge Larry Dunn said Thursday morning that Glenn Ramey's case "cried out for the maximum sentence." The Olney man pleaded guilty in January to predatory criminal sexual assault for the rape of Sabrina Stauffenberg.
