Man rescued after driving minivan off cliff near Montara State Beach
A man was rescued Friday morning after driving his minivan off a cliff by Montara State Beach, officials said.
He went over the edge of Highway 1 just south of Devil’s Slide around 8 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A rescue operation coordinated by the Coast Guard and CHP helped retrieve the man from the water’s edge while his car was submerged not far from where he was standing. A helicopter was also on scene.
The man suffered non-life threatening injuries, CHP said, and he is believed to be the only occupant of the vehicle.
