Enjoy it while you can, Lakers will soon be trading Julius Randle
This relationship seems to be nearing it's course for a hard-working player.
Julius Randle coming into this season was projected to be the starting power forward again for the third consecutive season. After transforming his body, making him stronger, more lean, and faster, it was almost silly to not say he wouldn't have a career year. But to start the season, we have not yet seen Julius Randle start a single game.
Luke Walton has been consistent with his starters this season with Larry Nance Jr starting in Randle's place. Even when Nance went down with the injury, Randle still did not get the nod. Instead, the emerging Kyle Kuzma took his place. Kuzma in every sense this season has been pretty good, might even be better than Randle at this point. Randle has had a helluva start to the season even though he is coming off the bench, averaging 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds.
With Kyle Kuzma's recent 38 point explosion and the maximum effort Larry Nance Jr gives to the Lakers on both ends, it's almost hard to say that Randle's future with the Lakers is secured. This being his contract year and the team has not picked up on his deal. Magic and Rob Pelinka have been on record trying to clear some roster spots for the summer MVP: CAP SPACE. After trading a young budding star in D'Angelo Russell in order to shred a terrible contract in Timofey Mozgov, you can almost envision the old young core is likely on it's way out as well, that includes Jordan Clarkson. Magic is focused on building this team around his own young core that includes, Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. So in due time, we will see a trade at some point. Enjoy Julius Randle while you can Lakers fans.
