This talented actress and strong woman was born in Lagos. She is 39 years old, as her birth date is the 7th February 1978. Her family was not rich, but they could also not be called poor. Both of her parents were of the middle class and had stable jobs. Omotola’s father, Sola worked as a manager of one of the country clubs in Lagos, and her mother Toyin worked in the retail branch at a local supermarket. Apart from Omotola, her parents also had two sons, whose names are Bolaji and Tayo.
Omotola remembers growing up as a tomboy, always speaking what is on her mind and not letting anything stand in her way. She was independent and strong, and her peers respected her for being always straightforward and knowing what she wanted. Although, it seemed to Omotola that all the boys were afraid of her, and her mother used to say she would never find herself a husband with a character like that. Speaking of her mother, she described her as a strict and confident woman and said she came from the Egba clan.

Omotola Jalade’s dad was the closest person in the world for her. She said in interviews that he always treated her in the best way and she could speak to him about all the issues that bothered her. When her father died in a car accident, she was only twelve years old. At the time, she was at a boarding school preparing for her exams. She later remembered that she was just lost when she found out about the tragedy, and she could not even cry. It was later on that she realized how much of a negative impact her father’s loss had on her. When she first started to act in the movies, she would recall his death every time she needed to cry on camera; however, this method was not perfect at all, because she could not stop crying afterwards.

Omotola Jalade always considered herself lucky in love, and it is hard to believe nowadays that she originally did not want to get married. Omotola and her husband, the pilot, Matthew Ekeinde, have quite an interesting love story. Actually, Matthew fell in love with Omotola at first sight when he saw her in church. The next day, he came to her house and knocked on her door. Omotola remembers that her future husband caught her by surprise, as she had not even taken a shower when he appeared.
Soon enough, Matthew became a family friend, and he grew closer and closer with Omotola. The main thing that attracted her to him was that he was older, meaning that he basically acted like a father figure towards her. Omotola, who still struggling after the loss of her father, really needed a shoulder to lean on. Matthew also developed a friendly relationship with Omotola’s brothers, and sometimes he dropped them at school and picked them up afterwards.

Matthew proposed to Omotola when she was eighteen. He was twelve years older than her. At first, her mother did not want her to get married so soon and asked Matthew to wait. However, he loved Omotola too much and could not imagine his life without her, so he told her mother that when you love someone, there is no point in waiting.
Omotola said that one more thing that amazed her in Matthew was his courage, and she always admired this quality in her husband. She confessed that she is unable to imagine herself being married to someone else. Matthew also came up with Omotola’s famous nickname “Omosexy”. He even has a tattoo with this name!
This couple had not one, but two wedding ceremonies and the second one was quite unusual, as it was connected with Matthew’s occupation. They got married in the air, on a plane flying to Benin from Lagos. Omotola always recalls this moment with pride and joy.

When Omotola had her first daughter, Princess, she was really young – only nineteen years old. You will not believe it, but this beautiful woman currently has four children with her husband Matthew Ekeinde! Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and her husband have two daughters and two sons. The whole family is very friendly with each other and they are often seen spending time together. The children’s names are Princess, Matthew Jr, Meraiah, and Michael.
All of Omotola Jalade’s youngsters aspire to be as successful as their mother, and as determined and brave as their father. Her oldest daughter, Princess Ekeinde, is twenty years old. Omotola considers herself to be a tough parent to her children. When she was asked if she would send her young ones to the military school, she said that she would consider this option. She admitted that when you are there, it seemed like the worst thing in the world, but when you graduate and compare yourself to the students from the regular schools, you realize that military discipline shaped your whole personality and made you confident, strong, and hardworking like she is now. Omotola herself was sent by her father to a military camp once.
