Dennis Bermudez vs. Andre Fili among several fights booked for UFC on FOX 27

A featherweight fight between Dennis Bermudez and Andre Fili is among the list of matchups set for UFC on FOX 27 in Charlotte.

Featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Andre Fili are set to do battle at UFC on FOX 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte Observer reported the new fight booking on Wednesday.

Bermudez (17-7) is looking to rebound from consecutive losses to Chan Sung Jung and Darren Elkins. The New Yorker’s last win came in August 2016 against Rony Jason. Fili (17-5) has been consistently inconsistent, alternating wins and losses throughout his UFC career. He is coming off an October unanimous decision victory over Artem Lobov at UFC Gdansk.

On the topic of featherweights, Mirsad Bektic and Godofredo Pepey will also be on the card. This will be the first fight for Bektic (11-1) since that unbelievable KO loss to Darren Elkins, who was way behind on the scorecards before flooring Bektic in the final round at UFC 209. Pepey (13-5) was soundly beaten by Shane Burgos at UFC on FOX 25 back in July. The Brazilian submission specialist has a notable flying triangle choke win over Andre Fili.

Lastly, welterweight Niko Price is set to face George Sullivan. Price (10-1, 1 NC) saw his undefeated record come to an end against Vicente Luque, who submitted him with a d’arce choke at UFC Sao Paulo. Sullivan (17-5, 1 NC) hasn’t fought since he was knocked out by Alexander Yakovlev in January 2016. He’s currently serving out the remaining few weeks of his one-year USADA suspension after testing positive for clomiphene.

UFC on FOX 27 will take place on Saturday, January 27th and is headlined by a middleweight rematch between Ronaldo Souza and Derek Brunson. The two men previously fought in Strikeforce, with “Jacare” knocking Brunson out less than a minute into the fight.
