'Satchel bandit' linked to California robberies is arrested
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — California authorities say they've nabbed the so-called "satchel bandit," a suspected bank robber linked to a dozen heists in cities east of Los Angeles.
The San Bernardino Sun reports Bryce Auten was arrested this week at his home in the mountain community of Lake Arrowhead.
Officials say detectives recovered evidence linking the 31-year-old to the robberies after serving search warrants at several locations in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. It wasn't known Thursday if Auten has an attorney.
Investigators say Auten is suspected in 12 robberies between November and December in cities including Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands and Riverside.
