Zuma's got the goods
Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Dumsani “Du” Zuma, still has a long way to go in his career but Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela already has the feeling the youngster has the makings of a big star.
So much so that the Chiefs mentor has likened Zuma to the legendary Siyabonga Nomvethe who has achieved just about all there is to in the game.
Zuma enjoyed hero status this past weekend when he handed Amakhosi their first league win at home of the season courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town at their alternative home, the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
He joined Amakhosi at the start of the season from Bloemfontein Celtic.
Komphela had high praises for Zuma and his good performances in the last few matches.
“He is a very calm, clinical finisher and we are delighted that every time he has been given an opportunity he always does well. Even against Platinum Stars last week, when he started, he was okay. There were moments when he got turned and went forward. He hardly loses possession. We just hope he will keep getting better. He has got the quality. The only thing that you need to understand is the character, his personality. Don’t be misled by his silence and think that he is cold, no he is not cold, he is lethal. Uyafana nje noNomvethe (he is similar to Nomvethe). Nomvethe will be quite but will kill you," Komphela gushed "This is what you get from Msholozi. He is very clinical. One on one he will never forgive you.”
Zuma has already expressed his desire to follow on the foot-steps of Pietermaritzburg greats. The KZN capital has produced top quality players in the past, among them the late Michael Bizzah Dlamini, Andile Cele, Mbulelo Mabizela, Bryce Moon as well as Sandile Ndlovu.
“He must be complimented for being patient enough to wait for his chance. You will never see him until you want to see him because he doesn’t show himself.
"He is the kind of person who is subdued, quite and you need to know the quality they possess for you to bring him in. But if you don’t pick that up, you are going to overlook him. As he was going on I had to scream at him just to get the monster out of him.”
And that monster was on show against Ajax at the weekend. He is expected to link up with Leonardo Castro upfront for Amakhosi after the dsfsdfsdfsdfsd joined Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Castro is likely to make his debut on January 6 against SuperSport United.
