‘Mamma Mia’ Sequel Trailer Teases Key Character Death, Cher’s Grandmotherly Role (Video)

Here we go again. In an effort to get you up and dancing early Thursday morning, Universal Pictures just released the trailer for its “Mamma Mia” sequel, officially titled “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.”

At the end of the two-minute, 24-second teaser, Cher shows up — and steals the show — as Amanda Seyfriend’s grandma.

The whole trailer seems to tease the death of Meryl Streep’s character, who as Seyfriend’s on-screen mom would likely be Cher’s daughter. That’s kind of just how generations (and uncomplicated movie plots) work.
