Cholera outbreak kills 4, infects 38 in Nasarawa
- A fresh cholera outbreak has reportedly killed four people in Nasarawa state
- The public relations officer, state ministry of health Musa Abdullahi confirmed the incident
- Abdullahi, however, admonished all the community members to observe personal hygiene
No fewer than four people have reportedly been killed by fresh cholera outbreak while 38 others were infected in Toto local government area of Nasarawa state.
Punch reports that the public relations officer, state ministry of health Musa Abdullahi who confirmed the cholera outbreak said some of the affected victims are currently stable and the patients are responding to treatment.
According to him, a team of health experts from the state ministry of health have donated medicine to the Shege community, while efforts are ongoing to contain the spread of the disease.

The state commissioner of health, Daniel Iya, who was represented by state director of public health Ibrahim Adamu-Alhassan donated the medicine to the community.
Adamu-Alhassan said the donation of the medicine was part of the state government’s intervention to avert further escalation of the disease across the state.

He maintained that part of the team’s assignment was to support the community health workers in the area to improve on their skills and to sensitise them to respond to any new infection.
The director, however, admonished all the community members to observe personal and family hygiene such as proper and regular hand washing, appropriate disposal of sewage and other waste, boiling and treating water before drinking, among others.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state on Tuesday, December 19, called on the federal government to totally ban Codeine syrups in the country.
