Trees fall on cars in Valley Road as gale-force winds lash Malta
The busy Valley Road in Birkirkara has been closed to traffic after two trees crashed to the ground, hitting cars in the process, as gale force winds continued lashing the island on Thursday.
The trees fell at around 10.30am, the police said.
No one was injured though a policeman narrowly avoided the impact, pictures show.
Meanwhile, witnesses said some cars in Triq il-Lanċa in Valletta, had been carried away from their parking spots by the rising waters.
No damage was reported and the owners are being contacted.
Drivers going through The Strand in Sliema also had to swerve through the seawater which rose above the promenade, flooding the area.
