Zhoghovurd: Pro-LGBT NGO sues Armenia's Ministry of Culture
A Yerevan-based NGO which earlier this year conducted an LGBT campaign in the capital is said to have filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Culture over restrictive policies against the sexual minorities in Armenia.
The public uproar over PINK Armenia (Public Information and Need of Knowledge) rose after its advertising placards, calling for respect for the LGBT community's rights, appeared in central Yerevan in September, evoking a social outcry. The municipal authorities later had to dismantle the ads amid public criticism that the “conduct a pro-LGBT campaign”.
The NGO sued the Yerevan City Hall, considering the move unlawful. On December 18, they brought an action against the Ministry, urging it to recognize their video rolls and placards as a social ad to avoid criticism, the paper says, citing its sources,
