Manchester United loses to Bristol City in League Cup thriller
Bristol City has captured hearts with their celebration posts, and now they’ve beaten a Premier League giant too.
Bristol City FC pulled off one of the best results in its history on Wednesday night, knocking defending champions Manchester United out of the League Cup with a dramatic 2-1 victory. The match appeared to be headed for extra time until Korey Smith scored in the 93rd minute, shocking the world and eliciting one of the loudest roars to ever come out of Ashton Gate and sending the Robins to the semifinals.
Prior to this game, Bristol City had started to gain some serious notoriety outside of its local fanbase for the first time in a long time. The club is third in the Championship and might make the Premier League for the first time ever. But even more so than for quality play, it’s the celebration GIFs that have people rooting for Bristol City.
For instance, this one after Joe Bryan scored the opener.

You should follow @BCFCTweets for more of these every week — the club does not appear to be running out of ideas.
If you’re wondering about the actual finish of the game, well, that was pretty cool too. Listen to the crowd go bananas after Smith takes advantage of United’s sleepy defense.

The League Cup semifinals feature home and away ties, so these fans are going to get another chance to watch their team take on a Premier League giant. The other teams in the draw? Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City. You can catch the semifinal first legs on Jan. 9 and 10.
