If you like animals... (20 replies)
I have a dog that we got from the Blue Cross, a previously abused and unwanted dog (who is now the absolute king of the house!) and sponsor them, sponsor a dog (Logan) at Evesham's Dogs Trust who was previously used for fighting, and Shocks, a previously abused donkey at the Birmingham Sanctuary.
Logan's a great character, but can't be visited one-to-one because of his previous shit experiences with people, but there are others that can be visited there, and at other centres. You can visit the Donkey Sanctuary, of course, and they're bloody lovely animals. They even write to you and let you know that they're OK, which is bloody clever.
So, a great gift for kids and adults that like animals, plus you get to see them and visit. Just a thought!
As an aside, I like to go down to Burford's Blue Cross Centre and the Evesham Dogs Trust to take treats for the residents and chocs for the staff, who are brilliant, and will do that this weekend. If anyone's ever in the vicinity of places like these, it's a good way to spend a bit of time, and do a bit of good. You never know, you may come back with a dog, although perhaps not a donkey, although if you were in charge of Blues' transfer policy, I wouldn't bet on it.
