‘Get Out’ Wins the Producers Guild’s Stanley Kramer Award
Jordan Peele has picked up another award for his rapidly-expanding trophy case, with the writer-director’s social thriller “Get Out” landing the Producers Guild of America’s Stanley Kramer Award, an annual honor that goes to a film that “illuminates and raises public awareness of important social issues.”
Though “Get Out” takes the form of a horror film about a young black man who meets his white girlfriend’s parents and finds himself in a nightmarish situation, the film is also a provocative look at race relations in current-day America.
