RANEPA has published a monograph “Society and Pandemic. Experience and lessons of the fight against COVID-19 in Russia ”. The book analyzes how the health care system, the economy and the financial sector, education and the social support system coped with the first wave of the pandemic, and how the crisis affects the transformation of the public administration model.
A study by the Romir company recorded an increase in Russians’ expenses since the beginning of the epidemic compared to previous years. Citizens are increasingly complaining about the high cost of living, poverty and low wages – such complaints were expressed by more than 40% of respondents.
In Moscow, they detained Lieutenant General Sergei Mileiko, the former deputy head of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov. A criminal case was opened against him for large-scale fraud.
The Ministry of Education and Science has no plans to resettle university students from dormitories due to the coronavirus epidemic, said the head of the department Valery Falkov. According to him, all decisions on such measures are taken at the university level.
