Trump tweets about Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch, anthem
Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch’s actions during the national anthem appear to have drawn the attention of President Donald Trump.
Lynch has routinely sat for the anthem before Raiders games this season. On Sunday, before the Raiders played the Patriots at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the anthems of both the U.S. and Mexico were performed. Lynch appeared to sit for the U.S. anthem and stand for Mexico’s anthem.
Early Monday morning, Trump, who has been outspoken against NFL players kneeling for the anthem, posted the following to his Twitter account:
“Marshawn Lynch of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem.
