EU leaders issue congratulations to Serzh Sargsyan
Top leaders of EU institutions are said to have issued congratulations to Armenia’s newly elected prime minister.
Citing its sources from Brussels, Aysor.am reports that Serzh Sargsyan has received congratulatory addresses from President of the EU Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean Claude-Juncker.
Earlier, the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as the Russian and Georgian prime ministers congratulated the former president on being appointed to office.
The amended Constitution of Armenia increases the the prime ministe's authority, giving a ceremonial status to the president.
Sargsyan’s second term of presidency expired in April 2018.
