Manafort Prosecution Close To Wrapping
In the Paul Manafort trial, we’re nearing the end of the prosecution’s case-in-chief.
Since the trial resumed early this afternoon, prosecutors have put the finishing touches on the bank fraud case against Manafort. In particular, they focused on two loans Manafort obtained from Chicago’s Federal Savings Bank, whose CEO was at the same time allegedly seeking Manafort’s help in obtaining a position in the Trump administration (secretary of the Army, no less).
One telling tidbit from the testimony of a senior bank vice president: the $9.5 million and the $6.5 million loans to Manafort were the largest and second largest loans the bank had ever made.
