49ers sign NaVorro Bowman to four-year extension
The 49ers have agreed to a four-year, $44 million extension with their All-Pro inside linebacker, who had three years remaining on his contract, a league source said.
After missing the 2014 season due to two torn knee ligaments, Bowman returned last year and led the NFL in tackles (154) while earning first-team All-Pro honors.
Said Baalke: The perseverance he displayed while overcoming adversity and returning to his All-Pro form provides a great example of what can be accomplished through hard work and self-belief.
Despite Bowman’s strong comeback season, it was clear he hadn’t fully recaptured his sideline-to-sideline explosiveness, which occasionally showed up in his pass coverage.
In June, he insisted the NFL Network’s annual ranking of the league’s top 100 players was “totally bogus” after he was listed at No. 61.
