PHOENIX (AP) — A 94-year-old Phoenix woman freed herself from the trunk of her car hours after she was abducted from her condominium by a man who put her in the trunk, drove the car away and parked it at a shopping mall, police said Wednesday. The Springfield News-Leader reports that 51-year-old Karl David Lawrence was convicted of two counts of statutory sodomy last week. Prosecutors allege that Lawrence has abused multiple children over the years. Court records show that three girls accused Lawrence of sexually abusing them. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting three people in southwest Oregon. Sgt. Brad O'Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday the boy was booked into a juvenile detention facility on charges of aggravated murder. Deputies found the victims Tuesday night after being called to a home southwest of Roseburg. Police have not released the names of the victims of said if they are related to the teenager. O'Dell said more information would be released Wednesday afternoon.

Burke County sheriff's deputies told local media outlets that deputies were called around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to a home near the McDowell County line. Deputies found a man dead at the home. Deputies said the man did not live at the home. His name has not been released. Deputies said a man and a woman were also in the home. No arrests have been reported.
