NEW YORK (AP) — A federal grand jury in New York City has returned indictments against four college basketball assistant coaches charged in a bribery scheme. The grand jury returned the indictments Tuesday against eight of 10 men arrested in September. WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans on Tuesday blocked Democratic efforts to secure bigger tax benefits for parents' costs of raising or adopting children, as they drove toward wrapping up their tax overhaul by week's end. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — The Air Force Academy says racial slurs posted outside the dorm rooms of five black students were written by one of those students. The announcement Tuesday was a jarring turn in an episode that prompted the academy's superintendent to make a widely viewed speech warning that racists were not welcome at the school. PHOENIX (AP) — Prosecutors on Tuesday showed jurors a small plastic box where a 10-year-old Arizona girl was found dead in 2011 and urged jurors to convict the child's relative of murder. Prosecutors said John Michael Allen, 29, crammed Ame Deal, his wife's cousin, inside the small storage box as punishment for stealing ice pops and could have saved her from dying but chose to go to sleep instead.
