AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Texas lawmaker wants the state's top law enforcement agency to look into Baylor's sexual assault scandal and whether school officials worked to cover up crimes. Baylor fired football coach Art Briles and pushed out former President Ken Starr in 2016 after an internal report found the Waco school mishandled sexual or physical assault allegations for years.

Two convicted murderers are scheduled for lethal injection that day: Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has set execution dates for eight death row inmates, even though the state lacks one of three drugs needed to put the men to death. The U.S. Supreme Court last week rejected inmates' request to review a state court ruling upholding Arkansas' lethal injection law. Prison officials say they haven't replaced a lethal injection drug that expired in January.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana House has approved a two-year state spending proposal that relies on revenue from a $1 per-pack cigarette tax increase. While many parts of Northern California were enjoying warmer temperatures and sunny skies Sunday, some Big Sur residents woke up to a fresh layer of snow.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals did not give an explanation for its ruling but said it would extend until next week the deadline for the government's opening brief in its appeal. The states said "the president has not rescinded the executive order and has not issued a new executive order." Because Trump has not rescinded the current order, court briefings on the preliminary injunction should proceed, the states said.

The request comes after an Indianapolis lawyer earlier this month sought the overturning of a state appeals court decision denying access to emails sent to Pence in 2014 in which a staffer for Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott outlined a legal strategy for challenging then-President Barack Obama's executive order on immigration.

The Senate voted 20-10 on Monday to allow guns in any government meetings except those held in places where guns are generally prohibited, such as college campuses.

What’s not good is that the 89th Academy Awards fell 12.5 percent year over year in the important 18-49 broadcast demographic, posting a 9.1 rating versus 2016’s 10.4.
