The kerfuffle over the future of the Tiburon commuter ferry has ended peacefully, and Golden Gate Ferry will take over operation of the route in March, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District announced. Blue & Gold, which has run the ferry for 38 years, announced in 2015 that it couldn’t afford to keep it afloat and started negotiations with Golden Gate, which already runs boats from Sausalito and Larkspur. Oakland’s assistant police chief ordered officers Friday to immediately begin reporting unpermitted events up the chain of command — a policy developed in response to the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in December. A self-driving Chevrolet Bolt was involved in an accident in San Francisco, the latest in a series of such incidents that generally aren’t deemed the fault of the autonomous technology that drives them, state records showed Friday.
