These colorful climbers are well-behaved vines
Familiar vines such as royal trumpet vine, jasmine or passion flower vine simply are too aggressive for such a spot and nearly impossible to keep to a modest size. Native to Mexico, they feature heart-shaped, slightly hairy emerald green leaves to 2 inches. Beginning in summer, plants produce an abundance of 2-inch, flared trumpet flowers that are either vibrant purple ('Joan Lorraine'), lavender ('Sky Blue') or pure white ('Snow White').
