Police: DNA links man to multiple cold case rapes
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Georgia police say DNA evidence has linked a Cobb County man to three rapes over the past 12 years.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 51-year-old Christopher Charles Sanders is accused of raping three women in three different cases dating back to 2006. He was indicted Thursday on three rape charges connected to the 2006, 2011 and 2012 attacks.
Georgia passed a law in 2016 requiring all rape kits be submitted to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for testing. There were thousands of backlogged kits at the time. The Metro Atlanta Sexual Assault Cold Case Task Force was created this year to ensure old cases wouldn't be overlooked.
