NEW YORK (AP) — Ousted Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is naming two new directors to the ride-hailing app company's board as part of an ongoing struggle with one of Uber's major investors. Former Xerox CEO Ursula Burns and former Merrill Lynch and CIT Group CEO John Thain were named as directors in a Friday statement attributed to Kalanick, rather than Uber Technologies. NEW YORK (AP) — Air France says a flight bound for Los Angeles was diverted to an airport in Canada after one of the plane's four engines was seriously damaged. The airline says flight AF 066 from Paris landed safely at Goose Bay Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador on Saturday at 11:42 a.m. Eastern time. KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — For Donald Raunig, each visit to Kodiak takes him back in time. Unlike most cruise ship visitors, Raunig is already very familiar with Kodiak. In the early 1960s, Raunig was stationed at the U.S. Naval Operating Base on what is currently U.S. Coast Guard Base Kodiak. KINSHASA, Congo (AP) — Authorities in Congo say at least 10 people have died after a military cargo plane crash shortly after takeoff from the capital. Government spokesman Lambert Mende confirmed the crash of the Antonov cargo plane at N'djili International Airport on Saturday morning based on reports from airport officials. Local media report that at least 10 people are believed to have been on the plane bound for Bukavu in Congo's east. Media reports say there were no survivors. BERLIN (AP) — German authorities say a passenger jet with 88 people on board overshot the end of the runway on the North Sea island of Sylt, but nobody was injured in the incident. BERLIN (AP) — German authorities have arrested a 55-year-old man suspected of making threats to poison supermarket food unless a large payment was made. Police and prosecutors in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg said the man arrested Friday is "urgently suspected" of attempted blackmail. NEW DELHI (AP) — Tom Alter, a well-known Indian theater, television and Bollywood actor of American descent, has died in Mumbai of cancer. He was 67. A statement issued by his family on Saturday says Alter died Friday night at home with his family around him in Mumbai, India's financial and entertainment capital. WASHINGTON (AP) — A panel of federal regulators has voted to remove insurance giant American International Group from the tougher government oversight that had been imposed on the company in the wake of its near collapse in 2008.
