(AP) — Connecticut's budget impasse is putting the state medical examiner's office at risk of completely losing its accreditation, a prospect that could cast some doubt on the agency's credibility and raise questions in court about its findings in murder cases. LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan is giving online retailer Amazon $4.5 million to ensure it opens another facility in the state. The Michigan Strategic Fund approved the incentive Tuesday for the e-commerce powerhouse to open a fulfillment center in Macomb County's Shelby Township. Seattle-based Amazon plans to create 1,025 full-time jobs at the $40 million facility. The Air Raid offense gets most of the attention at No. 16 Washington State but the Cougars' defense is also pretty good. DETROIT (AP) — Dyson Ltd., the British company best known for its vacuum cleaners, is working on an electric car that it says will be launched by 2020. In an email to staff Tuesday, Dyson founder and chief engineer James Dyson said he has a team of 400 engineers and others working on the car. NEW YORK (AP) — Health officials are reporting another record increase in infections from three sexually transmitted diseases. More than 2 million new cases of chlamydia (kluh-MID'-ee-uh), gonorrhea (gah-nuh-REE'-uh) and syphilis were reported in the United States last year — the most ever. SAO PAULO (AP) — The Brazilian government has backtracked on its decision to open up a huge reserve in the Amazon rainforest to commercial mining. President Michel Temer signed a decree in August opening the 46,500-square-kilometer (17,950-square-mile) Renca reserve, which roughly is the size of Switzerland and is rich in gold, iron, manganese and other minerals. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A hospital patient who a Utah nurse said she was protecting when she refused to allow police to draw his blood has died. William Gray, a commercial truck driver and reserve police officer, died late Monday night of the injuries he suffered when a fiery July 26 crash left him with burns over nearly half his body, University of Utah Health spokeswoman Suzanne Winchester said. Food and drinking water are also difficult to come by, and the recovery will be long, difficult and expensive. CLEVELAND (AP) — Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is acknowledging that the Fed is puzzled by the persistence of unusually low inflation and that it might have to adjust the timing of its interest rate policies accordingly. Speaking to a conference of economists, Yellen is delving into several questions the Fed confronting as it tries to determine why inflation has remained chronically below its inflation target of 2 percent annually.
