LOS ANGELES (AP) — Public health authorities on Tuesday declared an outbreak of the highly contagious liver disease hepatitis A in Los Angeles County, the third California region to see significant infections this year. Health officials reported the outbreak to the county Board of Supervisors, which requested a briefing due to the proximity of LA to San Diego, which has had more than 420 cases and 16 deaths since early this year. (AP) — Employing an array of giant telescopes positioned in the New Mexico desert, astronomers have started a massive surveying project aimed at producing the most detailed view ever made of such a large portion of space using radio waves emitted from throughout the Milky Way and beyond. NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of Best Buy are falling Tuesday after the nation's largest consumer electronics chain outlined long-term profit goals that displeased investors. The Richfield, Minnesota, company said that for fiscal 2021 it expects earnings per share of $4.75 to $5.00. That represents an 8 to 9 percent compound annual growth rate from fiscal 2017. SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazilian police have confirmed the death of a British woman who disappeared while kayaking in the Amazon. The head of the Amazonas state police homicide division told The Associated Press on Tuesday that a teenager has been arrested in connection with the case. He did not disclose woman's name. Ivo Martins says the victim's body is yet to be found, but that the teenager confessed to taking part in the slaying. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A convicted drug dealer was sentenced Tuesday in California to 11 years in prison in the beating death of a movie studio executive who had been having an affair with his wife. PITTSBURGH (AP) — Uber has resumed self-driving vehicle service in Pittsburgh following a crash. The company briefly suspended their self-driving fleet Monday morning. Police say a car collided with a self-driving Uber SUV. Two Uber employees who were in the SUV at the time of the crash and the driver of the car were not injured. Only half of America's smallest businesses now offer health coverage to their workers because many say steady cost hikes have made it too expensive to afford a benefit that nearly all large employers still provide.
