A report released this week by Seattle-based real estate date firm Zillow claims there is a strong connection between cities with rising rents and growing homeless populations, and that some metro areas with the strongest job markets are also experiencing crisis levels of homelessness. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah state commission is recommending preserving the name of Utah's Negro Bill Canyon after receiving conflicting information over whether the name is offensive. The local and national branches of the NAACP told the commission the name is not offensive and preserves the history of a canyon named for a black cowboy whose cattle grazed there in the 1870s.

(AP) — Dining at farms is becoming a regular summer and fall event that runs the gamut from multicourse dinners to weekly burger nights. At Valley Dream Farm in Cambridge, Vermont, tourists return year after year for the weekly $65 dinners at the organic produce farm.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that in a suit filed in U.S. District Court, Bob Heghmann claims GOP lawmakers defrauded contributors with promises to undo "Obamacare." The 70-year-old from Virginia Beach wants the Republican Party to return contributions or threaten lawmakers with losing financial support if they fail to repeal the ACA.

HOWELL, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged with performing a lewd act on himself during a screening of the "Emoji Movie" in New Jersey. The Howell Police Department said 43-year-old Abraham Parnes surrendered on Thursday after an anonymous tip following a surveillance image being published.

HOUSTON (AP) — The number of rigs exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. decreased by four this week to 954. Houston oilfield services company Baker Hughes said Friday that 765 rigs sought oil and 189 explored for natural gas this week.

Bond prices fell and yields rose, which sent shares of banks and other financial companies surging. Weight Watchers climbed after reporting a strong quarter while Viacom, the media company that owns Comedy Central and MTV, sank. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note climbed to 2.26 percent from 2.22 percent as investors concluded it is more likely the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates again later in the year. NEW YORK (AP) — A fire that apparently began in equipment on the street has caused smoke to waft outside Grand Central Terminal. The Fire Department of New York says it appears the fire started in a portable compressor at around 11:30 a.m. Friday on an elevated street next to the terminal. No injuries were reported. A tethered unmanned surveillance aircraft will be flying over the Bedminster area as part of a test while Trump is staying at his home on the golf course on a 17-day vacation that starts Friday, the Secret Service said in a privacy notice issued this week. Republican Rep. Leonard Lance, who represents the district around the club, led a group of congressmen in a letter sent to the Secret Service last month asking for help "in lessening the economic and operational burden" from the flight restrictions when Trump is in town.
