WASHINGTON (AP) — In a story July 3 about a deal to end a U.S.-Mexico dispute over sugar, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the countries signed the pact Friday. American sugar refiners had complained that Mexico was exporting low-cost refined sugar to the United States and limiting exports of raw sugar to be refined in the United States. The dispute might have broadened into a trade war with Mexico if it had not been resolved and if the U.S. had imposed duties on Mexican sugar imports.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek authorities say a wildfire has come within 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) of Ancient Olympia — birthplace of the Olympic Games — as several large forest fires continued to burn around the country. Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou told state-run television that firefighters stopped the blaze in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece at the Alpheios River, south of Olympia, before the wind changed direction and pushed the fire away from the ancient site.

Officials late Wednesday morning reopened a popular hiking area in northern Idaho where a black bear with a cub attacked a 60-year-old woman and her two dogs. Idaho Department of Fish and Game spokesman Phil Cooper says the woman was visiting the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and was hiking a trail near a visitors' center when the large bear charged, biting her head, side and abdomen. Cooper says the woman called relatives and they arrived 30 minutes later and had to yell to make the bear leave the area.
