NEW YORK (AP) — Supervalu Inc. is buying grocery distributer Unified Grocers Inc. for $114 million cash, boosting the grocery store operator's wholesale business. Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu is also assuming $261 million in Unified's debt as part of the deal. Combined, the companies will operate 24 distribution centers in 46 states, serving over 3,000 stores. Unified is based in Commerce, California, and supplies independent retailers in the Western U.S. The deal is expected to close during the summer.

CHICAGO (AP) — Should middle-aged men get routine blood tests for prostate cancer? New research shows testing men aged 55 to 69 may slightly reduce their chances of dying from prostate cancer. There's also newer evidence that "active surveillance," which involves repeated PSA testing and close monitoring, can help men diagnosed with cancer avoid harsh treatment or at least delay it. Harland Clark is paying $11.60 per share for RetailMeNot, a 50 percent premium on the Austin, Texas-based company's closing stock price of $7.75 on Monday. The companies listed the deal's equity value, which includes debt, the value of stock options and convertible securities, at $630 million.

HAMILTON, Ontario (AP) — A Canadian man accused in a massive hack of Yahoo emails has alleged ties to Russian agents and access to significant amounts of cash, making him a serious flight risk if freed on bail, a prosecutor said Tuesday. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A new estimate from the U.S. government shows that California met about half of the state's electricity demand for three hours on March 11. Homes and businesses in the area served by the grid generated the additional power that increased solar energy production for the three-hour period.
